Nidhoggr

As I published the new post on my blogspot Carpe Diem Haiku Kai I had no inspiration to write a haiku inspired on the music video “Nidhoggr” by Adrian von Ziegler. But today … after doing some research on “Nidhoggr” I love to give it a shot. So here is my attempt to a new haiku inspired on “nidhoggr”.

The Norns

The Norns

”Nidhoggr” by the way is a creature from the Norwegian mythology. It’s a dragon who gnaws at the roots of the World Tree, Yggdrasill. And it stands for the end of the world. The maidens mentioned in the haiku are the so called Norns, Uror, Veroandi and Skuld who are taking care of the well being of Yggdrasill. They pour water and sand on Yggdrasill’s roots and branches.

Laying beneath earth
Nidhoggr is destroying the world’s roots –
Apocalypse is near

Apocalypse is near
the maidens have lost their strenght –
Yggdrasill is dying

This set is, as I see it in touch with the music by Adrian von Ziegler. ‘Nidhoggr’ is a wonderful piece of music … and I am not even a fan of metal-music. ‘Nidhoggr’ however is great pagan-metal.
