Soliloquy no Renga “spring time”

Dear friends and followers,

Last Wednesday at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai the Ghost Writer feature returned. The feature has been changed for a little bit, but that gives me (the host also of Carpe Diem Haiku Kai) the chance to bring special features back to Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. This week I returned with the so called “Soliloquy no Renga” a kind of renga, initiated by me, in which it has become possible to write a renga on your own … in other words it’s a solo-renga …

Of course I had to try it myself. Here uis my attempt to write/compose a Soliloquy no Renga:

such a malice
cherry blossoms in full bloom
the Spring wind!

Soft painted petals fall
cover the spring earth in pink

one by one
cherry blossom petals fall
in muddy puddles

drifting away in the gutter
the last decaying leaves

the end of the circle of life –
hope for tomorrow

after the cold winter
nature comes to life again

the last snow melts
finally the light has returned
spring has started

dancing under the cherry trees
covered only with air

  1. I especially like the opening of the original haiku here – the abrupt juxtaposition between:
    such a malice
    cherry blossoms
    – it brings the readers up short as they try to get their bearings.
